Dog owners living in a disaster prone area are advised to create an emergency kit for their dog that contains the necessary supplies in case an emergency evacuation occurs. This kit should be located in a handy location and include the following:

  • Leash and collar with ID tags already attached

  • Medical health records

  • A copy of your AKC registration documentation

  • Recent pet photo

  • 3 day supply of food, medication, and water

  • Food / water dishes

  • Blankets and bedding

  • Crate

  • A few favorite toys

  • Plastic “pick up” bags

Lastly, it is to have your dog’s permanent identification registered with the AKC Companion Animal Recovery database.
