On Sunday, May 22nd from 2 to 5 pm Pet Camp will be hosting an open house for its new 13,000 square foot outdoor canine area called the Savannah. Dog owners are welcome to bring their best buddy and join in the fun, games, and prizes. Donations to Pets Unlimited will be accepted at the open house.

The Savannah is landscaped with trees and native grasses. It contains a dry creek bed, a bridge and dunes.

Pets Unlimited is a San Francisco-based animal shelter and veterinary center where a portion of every dollar spent on the care of each pet helps them save the lives of cats and dogs in need throughout the Bay Area.

Lawsuit Filed Against Dr. Phil and Wife Robin McGraw by Nagelberg Bernard Law Group

TV personality Dr. Phil and wife Robin McGraw sued for personal injuries and damages after their dog allegedly attacked and injured former best friend and confidant, Janet Harris at their home.

The lawsuit filed against Phil McGraw (Case # SC111297 filed at the Santa Monica Courthouse) and his wife Robin McGraw alleges that the couple’s gross negligence resulted in serious injuries being inflicted upon their former best friend and confidant, Janet Harris.

According to court filings, while Janet was a guest at the McGraw’s Beverly Hills manor, she was brutally mauled by their dog, “Maggie” without provocation or warning. The dog bite allegedly caused uncontrollable bleeding from deep puncture wounds, as well as cuts and abrasions inflicted on her arm and hand.

Complications from the dog bite injuries forced Janet to seek emergency medical treatment and required extended home nursing care to recover from an incapacitating infection called pastuerella multocida. Janet spent 7 days attached to an IV as well as being prescribed steroids and antibiotics.

The McGraw’s allegedly refused to provide compensation or assistance to Janet to aid with her illness, instead leaving her to deal with mounting health problems and financial burdens alone. While their former best friend suffered severe physical pain and mental anguish, the McGraw’s finalized the purchase of a new $29.5 million dollar Beverly Hills mansion.

Janet founded the Skin Rejuvenation Center of Beverly Hills 13 years ago. As a result of the injuries sustained, she was unable to maintain her livelihood, culminating in the loss of her business and indefinite inability to earn a living practicing her trade. She seeks compensation for general damages, medical treatment costs, loss of earnings, and pain and suffering.

The call that his dog ran away put him into shear panic. He left the movie theater immediately and went back to search his friend’s neighborhood in fear and desperation thinking: What if Dax gets hurt? What if someone takes him to any one of the many local vets or shelters? They wouldn’t know about his allergies to certain medications nor how to contact him if Dax’s collar somehow got lost. Every worse case scenario rushed through his mind simultaneously.

The Pet Protection Agreement is not only effective if a pet owner passes away—it’s also effective if they are in an accident or become unable to care for their pet. It’s a private agreement between the pet owner and the pet guardian. The owner has the option to leave money to care for their pet and can give specifics about their pet’s care—from the brand of food they like to eat, to their primary vet and even the groomer they visit. The agreement also contains provisions that allow the pet guardian to obtain access to the pet in the event of an emergency.

5th Annual New York’s Funniest Reporter Show Will Raise Money For Humane Society

The 5th Annual New York’s Funniest Reporter Show (www.nyfunniestreporter.com) will feature eight media professionals each doing five minutes of stand up comedy in order to raise money for the Humane Society of New York. Appearing on the show this year will be: Wendy Diamond (Animal Fair Magazine), Cooper Lawrence (Cooper Lawrence Show), Ellis Henican (Fox News & Newsday), Meredith Daniels (Newsday), Lauren Sivan (Fox News), Marlaina Schiavo (CNN), and Robert George (New York Post). 2009 NYFR Winner Marianne Schaberg will be performing in the show but, will not be competing. Judging the competition will be: Judith Regan (Sirius / XM), Jeffrey Gurian (Comedy Writer / Filmmaker), and Tasha Harris (Founder & Editor-In-Chief of StageTime Magazine). The show emcee will be comedian Ryan Reiss.

It will feature eight media professionals each doing five minutes of stand up comedy in order to raise money for the Humane Society of New York (http://www.humanesocietyny.org/). At the end of the night, a winner will be declared.
